Move parcels, stock, tools and equipment across South Africa using trips already happening on our roads.
How it works
Two sides of the same trip. The driver was going there anyway — that's why it's cheap. R100 for parcels up to 5 kg, +R50 per 5 kg from there to 30 kg. Bigger than that, the sender names the price.
For senders
- 1Post your parcel
Snap a photo, tap two addresses, declare value. R100 + a small protection fee. That's it.
- 2A nearby driver accepts
Someone heading your way takes the job and drives to pickup. Watch their pin move on the map.
- 3Verify, release, receive
At pickup you check the courier's code matches yours, then tap Release. Your recipient gets an SMS with the delivery code to confirm receipt.
For drivers (commuters)
- 1Plan or just go
Tap "Going now", enter where you're heading, set how far you'll detour. Or save your daily commute once and get pinged whenever a parcel matches.
- 2Pick up parcels on the way
Take photos for proof. Read your code to the sender, they tap Release — you've got the parcel. Same at drop-off with the recipient.
- 3Earn 85% of every delivery
R85 on a R100 (≤5 kg) parcel, R125 on a 10 kg, R295 on a 30 kg. Heavier parcels and named-price loads earn proportionally more. Lands in your wallet the moment the recipient confirms — cash out to any SA bank, R50 minimum.
A driver was going there anyway
That's the whole pricing thesis. We don't pay for fuel — the driver was making the trip regardless. They earn off the slack capacity in their car.

JHB→Pretoria, Springs→Sandton, Centurion→Hatfield. Thousands of cars run the same route twice a day. Adding a parcel costs them ~5 minutes of detour.

Driving JHB→Cape Town for the weekend? Tap “Going now”, set your route. The app pings you for any parcels along the way. Pick up five at R85 each — that's petrol money paid for.

Save your daily route once. We'll only ping you for parcels along that corridor, during the time windows you set. No noise.
Same driver picks up and drops off — no relays, no handoffs. Cleaner chain of custody, faster delivery.
Courier reads their code to you at pickup, you verify and Release. Same at drop-off with the recipient. No PIN = no handover.
You see the courier's pin moving in real time. The recipient watches it too on their tracking page.
One simple rule. Anywhere.
R100 for parcels up to 5 kg, anywhere in SA, door to door. Heavier? +R50 per 5 kg up to 30 kg. Got a fridge or a returning-empty truck? Name a price and a driver with the right vehicle can take it.
- ✓ Door to door — no station drops
- ✓ Same fee for 5 km or 1 400 km
- ✓ +R50 per 5 kg step up to 30 kg
- ✓ Over 30 kg? Name a price — couriers with bakkies + trucks accept
- ✓ Plus 1.5% of declared value for HopDrop Guarantee
- ✓ Credited the moment recipient confirms
- ✓ Cash out anytime to any SA bank, R50 minimum
- ✓ Heavier parcel = bigger payout (no kg charge to you)
- ✓ Trucks unlock the heaviest tiers and named-price loads
Weight tiers in full:
| Weight | Sender pays | Driver earns |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 5 kg | R100 | R85 |
| 5–10 kg | R150 | R125 |
| 10–15 kg | R200 | R170 |
| 15–20 kg | R250 | R210 |
| 20–25 kg | R300 | R255 |
| 25–30 kg | R350 | R295 |
| Over 30 kg | Sender names a price | 85% of it |
Same price every route — Springs→Sandton or Springs→Cape Town, the tier decides the fee, not the distance. Add 1.5% × declared value for the HopDrop Guarantee. Long-distance depends on a driver going that way; the app shows honest density before you post.
Run your entire delivery business on HopDrop. For free.
Already running a fleet, or a single-bakkie owner-driver doing your own deliveries? Add the parcels you already have — the ones your customers booked directly with you — straight into HopDrop. No commission. No per-job fee. R0.Same pickup PIN, delivery PIN, GPS tracking, photo proof, recipient SMS & ratings as every other parcel on the platform. The whole back-office is yours, free.

Post an “internal” delivery from your dashboard or your driver app, assign the van and the driver, done. HopDrop takes nothing. 100% of what your customer pays you, stays with you. We never see that money.

We'd rather you run allyour deliveries here than half of them somewhere else. The more fleets and owner-drivers live on HopDrop full-time, the denser the marketplace gets — more drivers in more corridors, faster matches for senders. Your free internal use makes the paid marketplace better. That's the trade.

Your van's already on the road doing your own job — the dashboard surfaces paid HopDrop parcels within minutes of where your driver is. One-tap accept, your driver picks it up on the way, you earn 85% on top. Internal deliveries cost you nothing and become a feeder for bonus revenue.
Your own customer's parcel and a HopDrop marketplace parcel use the same dispatch screen, same driver app, same PIN flow, same proof-of-delivery. Stop juggling WhatsApp, paper waybills and a spreadsheet — one tool runs the lot.
Sign up a fleet, add your vans, invite your drivers, start posting. Your data is yours, your customers are yours, your money is yours. We only earn when one of our marketplace senders chooses your driver — and even then, your driver keeps 85%.
It's the same loss-leader logic as free Gmail or free WhatsApp Business — we give you the operations layer for nothing and bet you'll opt into the paid marketplace because your drivers are already there.
Built for trust, not vibes
We're putting strangers in cars together. Here's what stops things going sideways.
The courier reads their pickup code to you. You check it matches what your app shows, then tap Release. No code, no parcel changes hands. Same protocol at delivery.
Couriers can attach a photo at pickup and at delivery. Both stay in your job timeline forever.
Every parcel carries our self-funded protection (up to R5,000), scaled to the value you declare. Lost or damaged in transit? We pay out within 7 business days.
Senders rate drivers. Drivers rate senders. Below 4.0 average and you're off the platform.
Common questions
How much does it really cost?+
R100 flat per parcel, anywhere in South Africa, door to door. Plus a small protection fee (1.5% of the value you declare — sending a R1,000 item adds R15 of HopDrop Guarantee on top, so you pay R115).
Which areas are covered?+
Anywhere in SA. The app works nationwide from day one. Match speed depends on how many drivers are on your corridor — short metro routes match in minutes, cross-country (e.g. JHB → Cape Town) waits for a driver going that way which can take a day. The app tells you the supply status before you commit.
How much can I earn as a driver?+
R85 per delivered parcel, flat. On a daily commute (Centurion ↔ Sandton, say) accepting 1-2 parcels adds R85-R170 to your day. On a long trip (JHB → Cape Town) picking up 4-5 parcels along the way is ~R425. You're earning off slack capacity — the trip was already happening.
How do I know my parcel is safe?+
Drivers are SA ID verified, registered with a vehicle, and rated by every sender they deliver for. Every parcel has a pickup code (you verify the driver) and a delivery code (your recipient verifies on the tracking page). Photo proof at both ends if the driver chooses to take it.
When does my card get charged?+
On post. Cancel before a driver accepts and you get a full refund — card (3-5 days) or instant wallet credit. Once a driver accepts, wheels are in motion: cancel after that and you forfeit the fee. Half goes to the driver for their trip; we keep the rest. So make sure the address and parcel are right before you post.
How do drivers get paid?+
R85 lands in their in-app wallet the moment the recipient confirms receipt. They cash out to any SA bank account anytime above R50. Or let it grow.
What can't I send?+
No firearms, no live animals, no perishables, no cash. Declared value capped at R20,000 per parcel in the pilot.
